An educational seminar will be presented by the renowned Thomas Graves, DVM. Dr Graves is a regular speaker with the AKC/CHF Breeders' Symposiums on Endocrinology Diseases such as Hypothyroidism, Epilepsy and Diabetes.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Thomas Graves, DVM—Endocrinology

Dr. Thomas K. Graves brings a passion for all aspects of Veterinary Medicine — teaching, research, and service— in his role as professor of small animal medicine in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine. He is currently establishing a research program focusing on the regulation of intracellular calcium as it relates to endocrine diseases.
Before earning a DVM degree at Cornell University in 1991 Dr. Graves worked as a
laboratory assistant for Dr. Mark Peterson, veterinary endocrinologist and asociate
director for the research arm of the Animal Medical Center of New York.
After completing an internship at Ohio State University and a residency at Michigan
State University, Dr. Graves continued his interest in endocrinology research at the University of Rochester, School of Medicine in Rochester, N.Y., where he earned a PhD in pharmacology.
Outside of work, Dr. Graves is a Pekingese breeder and has served as the president
of the Pekingese Club of America for the past 4 years. He’s also a member of the
President’s Council of the Canine Health Foundation for the American Kennel Club.
A Minute with Thomas Graves
Thomas K. Graves is a professor of veterinary clinical medicine in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Illinois. His work in endocrinology and pharmacology led him to be a consultant on a new obesity drug for dogs, a prescription drug called Slentrol, manufactured by Pfizer.
